Basic Keelboat Course - ASA 101

For novices who want to learn the fundamentals of sailing and small boat handling, we offer this
2-day course. This Introduction to Sailing usually takes place on the weekend with the bulk of the course
taught on the water. Upon completion of this course, you will be certified to rent sailboats up to 20' in length
in moderate wind and sea conditions in familiar waters without supervision. At Sacketts Sailing Center,
however, you are welcomed to rent sailboats up to 33' after completing the Mentor session.

Offered every weekend.
The course hours are 8:30 am till 5 pm both Saturday and Sunday.

Prerequisite:    None
NOTE:   You may "challenge" the Basic Keelboat Course if you have sufficient sailing experience for
$162.30 while taking the Combo course. Otherwise challenging is $212.30.*
 

What to bring.

Cost: $293.30  (includes tax, materials, and certification fee)
Deposit is $100 per person which can be done by phone with a credit card.

Beginning Oct. 1, 2007, ASA requires all schools to charge a certification fee for first time students.

Combo Course - ASA 103 & 104

During this 3-day course, you will obtain both the Basic Coastal Cruising and the
Bare boat Chartering certifications.
You will be doing chart work, and other activities such as anchoring required when you do a bare boat
charter in the Caribbean without a skipper aboard.  You are the Skipper of a sailboat up to 45 feet.


Offered every weekend.

Prerequisite:   Basic Keelboat Course (101)
NOTE:   You may "challenge" the Basic Keelboat Course if you have sufficient sailing experience for
$162.30 while taking the Combo Course.

Classroom (Fast Track Coastal Navigation)   ASA 105
This course was designed for the student who does not have the time to devote to a home study course,
(usually about 3 months). The training portion of this course takes place in one weekend.  The student
then works on one's practice exams at home (most students spend about 5 hrs). Final examination is
scheduled at your convenience and usually takes about 3 hours.



Coastal Navigation is a non-sailing course with no prerequisites.  This interesting and challenging

Coastal Navigation - ASA 105

Home study - $350

Coastal Navigation is a non-sailing course with no prerequisites.  This interesting and challenging course

Advanced Coastal Cruising - ASA 106

This 3-day live-aboard course includes night operations for a few hours in the Gulf of Mexico with a night
entry into the Port of Galveston.. Emphasis is placed on understanding weather, seamanship, mechanical
systems and the more advanced navigation topics covered in Coastal Navigation. For those individuals
anticipating overnight trips where watch standing will be necessary, this is an excellent opportunity to learn
the skills and techniques for such a trip.

* Wind and weather conditions will determine the exact route and time under sail for this course.


The fee is $1090 per person.

Space for 4 people May 7-9, 2021.

Note:  A 7-day version is also available which includes a round trip to Port Aransas/Corpus Christi.
The fee for the 7 day version to Port Aransas is $8000 which includes up to four people in your group.
This is not a per person fee.

    We offer the Basic Keelboat Course every weekend year round. You can enroll in a class with as little as two days notice. Weekday and private lessons can be arranged. We are here to make it easy and affordable for you to enter the world of sailing. Ask about our private Mentor sessions for only $250.00.

    ASA 103 and 104 Combo (Basic Coastal Cruising and Bareboat Chartering)

    We offer the Combo course every weekend except when it falls on Christmas. It is recommended you book this class at least 2 weeks in advance. We do about 60 Combo courses every year so advance booking will help ensure you are able to reserve a specific weekend. This class normally is Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. 

    ASA 105 - Coastal Navigation Classroom Course
    $350

    This class is offered once each quarter.  Space is limited to eight students so early booking is recommended
